ISIS, VIOLETA, ZOE, ALE

1) Isis and Violeta talked about having to choose between identifying first as a woman or first as an African-American (and that choosing whether to support the misogynist hip hop community is a prime example). Discuss

Being an African-American woman, I have come up against time and time again! People (usually men) wanting me split myself in two, as if I could forfeit the other. Which is all kinds of crazy, b/c not only do I experience the world through this two lensed frame, but the world sees me as an African-American Woman as well.

I do not think that choosing to support hiphop creates this division. One can support hiphop, but not support its misogyny.
