I think in some instances it is important to engage in identity politics, and that joining together as a group of individuals and supporters of a common identity is an affirming and empowering experience for a given group or culture. So while it is, of course, important to recognize and appreciate differences between all groups, I don't think that means we should ignore our individuality.
