CARMEN AND YASMINE

1) Do you agree with Yasmine’s assessment that when women claim to be “humanist,” it is a direct result of being afraid to confront sexism?

I think it can be construed that way, though I do understand where Yasmine is coming from. However, all races and classes having the same benefits under the law doesn't mean that women will be included. Plenty of men in all kinds of countries enjoy a lot of benefits that women do not, and their power-over doesn't speak to winning race or the class wars in the long-term. Women are a class unto themselves, and how we are treated says a lot about how future generations will interact with one another.

I sometimes shave my legs, but that doesn't deter me from fighting for birth control rights, equal pay and equal representation under the law, or from calling myself a feminist.
