1) Do you agree that there are problems with, as Kate calls it, “the non-profit industrial complex”? What are they? How about Planned Parenthood in particular?
Planned Parenthood provides much-needed services to women all across the country (and even other parts of the world) but I am not as familiar with their internal politics in how they treat young pregnant mothers.
If there is a discrepancy, if there is more they could do to educate young women about their options and about alternative options as well, that would be a godsend.
We need voices like Ariel Gore and Hip Mama, the writers of Breeder, young rock-moms...anyone young with a young child who is out there, making it work in genuine, holistic ways.
