2) How do you feel about women in the military? Does joining it have anything to do with feminism?

i agree with the post idea, that the military is this tiny pocket in society that, believe it or not, does not favor men or women--it doesn't really favor anybody. it favors your country and that's it. the reason men fare better is because it inherantly appeals to conventionally "masculine" qualities and requires a superhuman amount of strength. but as monica's case shows, you don't survive if you can't have people telling you what to do, which is not a "masculine" quality at all. in a sense, the point of the military is to de-gender everyone.
