2) Why is the feminist history of Wyoming forgotten by many of its residents?

While Wyoming was the first territory to grant women the right to vote, they didn’t necessarily do it for the right reasons. Granting women suffrage was a great publicity tool and whether or not people were for women’s right to vote, it kept Wyoming in the news and on people’s minds.
Don’t get me wrong; I think the men of Wyoming did a wonderful thing by granting women the vote, but many of them saw it as a means to and end- i.e. gaining popularity/citizens/statehood- rather than an end in itself.
